During an October 9, 1977 Pan American World Airways flight from London to Chicago, Guy Richard, a white male flight purser, allegedly referred to Sandra R. Smith, a black flight attendant, in a racially derogatory manner and attempted to strike her. That allegation forms the gravamen of Smiths complaint against Pan Am for racial discrimination in employment in violation of 42 U.S.C. ร§ 1981. The district court granted Pan Ams motion for summary judgment. We affirm.
